The School of Biology has been operating since 1973, after the separation of the School of Natural Sciences into two branches, Biology and Geology. Administratively, the School of Biology belongs to the Faculty of Sciences.
Facilities
Since the academic year 1987-88, the School of Biology is located on 5 floors (5th – 9th) of the new building of the Faculty of Sciences.
The division of the Departments and Laboratories of the School is as follows:
Ground floor:
Four classrooms, the library and the electronic microscope facilities.
5th floor:
Student lab classrooms, computer rooms, one graduate student classroom and the Fisheries Laboratory.
6th floor:
Laboratory of Zoology and Laboratory of Animal Physiology.
7th floor:
Laboratory of General Biology and Laboratory of Developmental Biology.
8th floor:
Laboratory of Systematic Botany and Phytogeography and Laboratory of General Microbiology.
9th floor:
Laboratory of Botany and Laboratory/Department of Ecology.
10th floor:
Meeting and Seminar Room.
